CIS butenedioic anhydride, also known dehydrated malic anhydride, is
an organic compound. The molecular formula is c4h2o3 and the molecular weight is 98.06. It
is mainly prepared by the oxidation of  butene in benzene or C4 fraction. The solid is white flake live granular crystal, easy to sublimate, soluble in alcohol, ether
, with a relative density of 1.48 (20 ºC solid) or 1.30 (70 ºC liquid), and a boiling
point of 202 ºC. It is easy to deliquesce in water to form maleic acid.
